New auckland member

Post by hachi_roku »

Hey all, new auckland member.

Im a mechanic and tyre guy on the shore, live up on the coast.
I thought id introduce myself as i been lurking around the forum for a few weeks now, Im fairly new to 4x4's but im enjoying it.

Well ive been out in the mud now for about 5 weeks, already onto my second 4x4 :P

I started out with a cheap UBS55 2.8TD Bighorn which i got for a steal as the turbo was buggered, the father in law had a turbo off the later bighorn which was installed and driving home after about 2 hours of owning it which was great.
2" body lift
2" suspension lift ( longer rear shackles, flipped ball joint and adjusted torsions, new shocks all around
2.5" exhaust from the dump pipe back
15x10 -44 wrapped in 33x12.5R15 Mudstars
Welded up the rear diff ( damn did that make a difference )
Got a factory intercooler kit and bonnet scoop from a wrecker and installed that, wound up the boost a tad it went alot better.. especially on the open road.
Then i thought it needed a snorkel as i half filled the airbox with mud and clay on its first outing at the 4wd park.. So i made a snorkel kit for it...

Then i got offered silly money for it so that got sold, as i had accuired my New 4wd a week ago.

So my new truck is a 93' SWB Pajero that i brought off a customer of mine, was stock as a rock 2.8TD manual.

Since i have owned it ( a week now :P ) i have done the usual service items. ( oils, filters, diff oils etc ) plus
2.5" exhaust from the turbo dump pipe back.
2" body lift.
Flipped balljoints.
2" suspension lift with new shocks. ( 50mm longer )
15x10's -44 with 33x12.5R15's XMT all around.
Spaced the wastegate acutator plate for a little more boost.
Would like a little more from her though, and would love to get the suspsnsion to flex a little more, it had its first outing yesterday at the 4WD park and it did very well, only got stuck once but that was in a really deep mudhole i always get stuck in but having the shortwheel base was definately better.

Ah, that was you with the Paj with shinny new wheels. Looks good. Hope you had an awesome day up there. Welcome to ORE.

Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

My wife decided she liked this alot more then the bighorn so that got sold and we decided to keep the Paj, so i body lifted it and fitted new wheels and tyres
