I picked up my surf from Chch driving back to QT got to Twizel and all the lights came on filter timing belt both turbo lights and charge. I have replaced the alternator bushes. they are still on? it still seems to be driving fine Ive been back up to Chch and back without problems. also the steering seems to have a dead spot in the middle?

lights on mean it's not charging.. alternator not doing its job

I'm having this same problem with my LJ71.. have you had any luck?

Have you checked alternator belts are in good condition / have good tension?

check the exciter wire that tells the alternator when to charge and when to stop charging, cant remember the name of the little box off the top of my head that controls it. check that too.
