Yes just reading this myself...
Very sad... And the girl survived in an air pocket...
Makes you think what would you do if it happened to you?

must of been a hard choice to make for the father, stay and try and get the kids out or run 2k's down the road to call for help. I don't think i could of left them if it was me.

Very, very sad, rangi, my thoughts initially where like yours but let's not jump to IF's, I bet the father is thrashing himself enough :( , IF IF IF, . I couldn't think of anything worse, my thoughts and prayers go out to the Family and West Coast community.

FITZY.

totally agree, wasn't saying he made the wrong choice just that it would be a bloody hard one to make. Feel for him and the family

it appears the first police on the scene waded into the water and checked the vehicle? it was only waste deep?
Seems crazy that he didnt just do what the cops did and get his kids out??

it says vehicle almost completely submerged and pump still running, I guess water level dropped between him leaving and rescue arriving.

People react differently under stress and often can panic.

Its a very sad turn of events for any father.
