Afternoon Gents and Ladies......
Planning on changing out the top mount air to air inter heater for a water to air unit...
Is there a rule of thumb in sizing the radiator core v's the intercooler core?
Haven't seen anything of help on the net...
Most just say as big as you can go...
But there must be some theory on it...
Also who sells remote inline radiator filler caps....in NZ?
Thanks in advance.

to suit what size hose? early MR2's have them in a smallish radiator hose size.
Re: Water to Air Intercooler, Radiator sizing
I bet there is a rule of thumb..... I dont know it
. Have you considered a "kit" or do you have the other parts? I guess you asked google, a starting point cld be lookin at a site that sells kits and comparing their hardware, "frozen boost" are kind enough to post up their sizing, unfortunatly its in imperial ( I fkn hate fractions
)

'Drift Spec'... The new "Half Assed"

Yup done the Google thing. Looked at kits. But still no clearer on basic sizes.. Dont want to get anything too small.
And buying kits are so $$$$$ when you can get the bits cheaper.

Re: Water to Air Intercooler, Radiator sizing
From the reasearch I did when looking to intercool my Zuk, there is quite a theory behind it. Problem is that there seems to be a fair trial and error involved. What did become apparant was the fact that the pump was just as important.
That is to say the flow and the time the water spends in both the cooler and the radiator is critical. To long and it gets to hot in the cooler and becomes ineffective, to short and it does not have time to draw out sufficent heat. (think waving your hand across a flame vs leaving it there). At the end of it it seemed the options were use a variable speed pump and spend some time playing with speeds and heat sensors or get a kit off a mass produced car (theory being they had spent millions in RnD.)
I opted for the later and used a subaru set up. It works well with post supercharger piping getting nearly to hot to touch and post cooler being essentually cold. Engine temps under load have dropped markedly too, it used to hit 100 all over the place, now it sits on thermostat temp (82*) all the time. This is on an 1800cc motor spinning to 7300rpm and boosting a consistant 61/2 pound. (SC12 toyota charger, needs more boost but need to decompress engine)
So my recommendation find a second hand ex factory kit off something. A Suby one may even be big enough for your purpose, if you can fnd one.

Toy - Zuk chassis tub, hilux 4.88 axles and transfer, Nissan CA18DE motor and auto trans, sc12 supercharger, 32 10'5 simex, twin motor 8274 custom freespool. Well the parts are all there in various corners of the shed

Rd28 has radiator cap in a short piece of pipe.
Google a picture, its on side opposite inlet manifold.
