40/60 series pto drive wtd

was under the truck last night and there is enough space to get a pto shaft down there to the front. not sure if i have enough room for the pto drive though...

so my question: can someone measure there unit and give me the dimension?

and potentially does anyone have a pto drive theyd be will to part with and not want heaps for? :wink:

I would measure mine for yah buts its covered in a few inches of Woodhill mud at the moment... :lol:

Do you want the distance from the mounting plate to the center of the drive flange? (to get an idea of where the shaft will run?)

yes that and the size of the whole unit itself. its quite tight between the gearbox and the chassis rail with the exhaust in there as so before i modify the exhaust to give the most amount of space i want to know ill get a pto drive in there for sure.

OK, just real rough measurements but the unit is approx 190mm x 190mm directly off the mounting plate. The drive center is approx 130mm down on a diagonal.

If I were you I'd get the PTO gear drive first, bolt it on and then see what needs to be modified.

cheers for that ill have a look underneath tomorrow and see if there is a chance itll fit and if so ill keep looking out for the gear drive. been nothing on trademe lately.

looking for the pto drive and possibly shafts (if someone has). only ones on trademe want crazy $$$. already have a drum.

try jex_the_bug he is a member here and has 2 pto shafts and winchs from memory and cam off his 60's.. worth a look..

he doesnt have a pto drive. i pm'd him a couple months ago asking.

have you checked you've got the drive gear installed in the transfercase, some trucks came without them and had a longer spacer installed on the shaft, if you havent got one the drive gear and short spacer is harder to find than a pto unit

Checked that before the gearbox went in. :wink:

So are the pto drive units themselves im beginning to think. Cheapest on tard me is 250. :evil:

in the scheme of things thats not an excessive price to pay, its worthwhile trying to find one complete with the lever and linkage or you'll spend hours trying to fab something and get the linkage and lengths right... went through that with my 40 series :x :? Image but it all turned out good in the end :D

dunno if you've already got a winch and pto shaft but best bang for buck is to buy a complete unit, some people ask silly money but keep your eyes out and be johnny on the spot and you might come up with a bargin, first complete pto winch I brought including pto, shafts, mounts, lever etc I paid $220 for :D

250 is just for the pto drive no shafts iv or levers... :evil: all iv got at the moment is a newly rebuilt winch drum that I scored for 75bucks. Ill keep a looking, was hoping someone on here had a spare/one they dont have a need for but at the same time dont want silly $$$ for it.
