3l diesel pump pully

I'm just putting the pump back on my motor .When i took it off the nut was f n tight .I looked at he pulley and big crack on key way .Any way i have another one here from a early 2l but its slightly different .the one with the flangy thing on is the 3l busted one .the replacement is slightly narrower than busted but is same width as belt . flangy has extra width where belt dosnt run .does the belt move in and out that much that it needs the flangy thing .
