do economical petrol 4x4s exist

Im on the hunt for a cheap 4x4, up to $4k and think i have come to the realisation that you simply cannot find a 4x4 petrol that is economical with same power??

by some power I mean more power than a 2 litre hilux (3y)

When talking about economy, remember that it is not all about fuel useage,
maintenance comes into that equation as well (that put the ruskies well out).
I reckon the Zuk is your best choice, however I have a 2003 2.0ltr zuk for the boss lady, and it is a thirsty wee pig for what it is. Costs about the same to run as an SV6 commonwhore (petrol wise anyway).

Hilux with a 22R ? What about daihatsu rocky/feroza? Mate had one with a 1600 petrol was pretty good on gas from what I remember. I have a 4Y hilux, power is ok suits me fine, but jezuz it can drink lol so know what your saying. Soon to be 4Y-E so that should at least help a bit

$66 to fill up my fj40 with lpg and about $170 to fill it with petrol does go alot better on petrol though

interesting, whats a full tank though? small in comparisn to most other 4bys??

considering I want a 4 door, and something bigger tham a zuk, I think I know im shit out of luck

currently own a v6 manual surf with low ks, and to be honest they arent as bad as they are made out but they still are not cheap

Missus' old 1.6 Vit would swallow same dollar amount in petrol as the playdoh uses on drizzle.
Current 2.0ltr 4 door Zuk gets 600kms for about $125.00

I think that you have to do all of the math annual milege, rego, road users if aplicable ect and then work out which fuel option is cheaper. I would love to own a petrol but the math dosn't work out for me to run a TB42, so therfore I run a TD42

Our family car is a 2.7 petrol surf with 3 pedals in the floor. Its a 4 cylinder motor (3RZ I think) and I reckon it gives a decent compromise between power and economy. Costs about $120 to fill up for about 450kms. We had a diesel one before and when you work in the road user costs the petrol is not that much dearer to run and its oh so much nicer to drive. Tows better than the 2LT too, although what a gutless noisy wonder that was.
