VX 80 series chasis cracking

Hi Guys, I have heard over the years that the 80 series in known for cracking the chasis where the steering box and panhard attatch, I have just found that mine has done the same and was wondering what fixes people have done?

any help appreciated

the fix's people are doing is... welding and plating and more welding

wut both them said .. Got a proto type for the outside so we'll see how it goes.. gotta get it on tho.. still working the inside

get it fixed B4 wof man sees it, or you will have to goto toyota and get a template for the braces and get it done by a certified welder... yada yada.....

Nivara suffers the same issue, and same remedy as above.

We have spoken to Peter watson about this issue regarding cert welding etc.. and he has said you dont need to if you are a competent welder and the repair is what is called "A running repair"which doesnt need cert and is not a woff issue.. might pay to get your local cert man to verify it but I have a copy of the email sent and just show it to the woff guy.. all good from there I beleive..

JLD are building a scratch built ute for me & thus far Wayne Martin has said go ahead with everything, no probs so welding isnt an issue
