FS 1986 surf

Post by muddyhilux »

ok as you may have seen in other posts things are changing so up for sale as well is my surf ive owned since Jan this year.when I got it mechanically it had a lot of issues.since then ive tidied most of them up and have been using it daily until last week.truck is a 86 ifs surf in red.the model with lift off back.has done approx 225kms now and still runs fine.just the basic 3ye motor.

GOOD THINGS

-since owning ive done a manual conversion which included resurfaced flywheel and new clutch slave cylinder
-all new rotors and pads in the front end as well as repacked and set bearings(just this weekend)
-restored rear end to correct height by replacing the 2 leafs that had been removed
-brand new windscreen installed in Feb
-drives mint
-has had 2 oil services since ive owned
-rear diff oil replaced
-gear box oil replaced when box went in
-4x mint condition tyres
-has 30mm body lift at present but will remove if buyer wishes.(had 33s on it at one point but they still rubbed with 30mm lift. ideally needs 50mm lift)
-exterior panels are strait for age of truck except the tailgate
-towbar

BAD THINGS

- the manual box i used is really starting to pack up.ive had this box for many years and put close to 50,000km on it.its made noises from day one but they are getting worse.it may last another year but it could also give up tomorrow
-the brake booster is leaking oil through into the vacum line which ive just found out
-door cards aren't great
-door window seals aren't great
-canopy has some rust but nothing that hasn't passed a wof
-tailgate has no glass, regulator or rubbers in the canopy(previous owner has added a wood / Perspex flap which works ok but ain't great

all in all its a reliable daily driver for the working man / woman who needs a vehicle to just throw things in and get into it.ive had the canopy off numerous times and the back end filled with steel for scrap runs and cut down trees / vegetation to take to the dump / wood to family members house's

pics below show what it looks like and inspections are welcomed

looking for offers over 3500.if it wasn't for a change of circumstances id quite happily keep this truck
