Gearbox spacers

Hi Nissan Bretheren, a wee trick we are trying on my shorty with spacers.
With guys wanting $100+++ for 10mm Steel plates to lower the transfer case, We thought we would try some 12mm Polycarb(Lexan) which we use for Bullet Protection on Vehicles.
They bolted up sweet and we'll run them for a bit and see how they go.
Way cheaper and apart from the warrant man scratching his head I cant see why these wont work.
Any thoughts,opinions,etc????
