Hi Guys I am a first time member, have had brief experience with 4WD vehicles, Had a Suzuki SJ413 years ago, was lifted on 30's . Was a good wee truck just a bit small/slow.
Have Just Recently purchased a 100% bog standard KZN130 1KZTE Auto surf, 202 kms. Have limited skills when it comes to fab work, but can do most of the work on the tools. this is my first time with a Diesel so expect me to be on here asking question as I learn all about it.

Not wanting to go silly with truck, just fit a snorkel and do exhaust as all i will be using it for is for access to hunting and fishing spots etc, any advice, tips you guys could point out would be most helpful

Thanks

Steve

That was the case for me, i got sick of hitting pot holes/cracks/roadworks and smashing my kit/underbody/mags etc everyday.
Went from a silvia+gtr to a smurf+50cc scooter and i'm still enjoying the change:D
See how things go later on.

Welcome Steve. I'll be keen to go for a mish, Not sure when tho. My calender is always up the wop :)

pm me when ya plan a date etc and i'll see how it looks 4 me.

Shot

Small update, Have ordered a External trans cooler for it, am thinking about getting a new manual radiator for it also as I'm pretty keen to avoid any high Temps.

Went up porters pass to lake lyndon claybird shooting in the weekend, powered all the way up the big hill just before you get to the lake, was going about 60kmh all the way up. Only in the last 50m on the steepest bit I noticed the Temp gauge move up about two needle thickness and once I got to the top it dropped right back to normal ( just on half )

Am working on getting some 15x8 steel rims and 31 Maxxis Bighorn MT764 for it. And also on the to do list is snorkel and Exhaust

A few things you can do to help keep ya temps under control.
Dont use over drive on hills ...let it rev a bit but dont over rev (max 2500)
Install a trans cooler but leave in ya factory auto radiator..they have a very efficent cooler in them.
Put some more viscuios fluid in the viscuios hub (available from BnT ..stock code VF-50 )
Put a 71 degree thermostat in it toyota part 90916-03121.
Fitting a 2.5 inch exhaust will help get the heat away from engine faster & get rid of the factory massive muffler & install a lower restriction type.
Might be a good idea to take ya radiator out & get it rodded & flushed to make sure no crap in it.
You can put some Redline "water wetter" in it...makes the cooler fluid more effeciant at transfering heat .

awesome info thanks , I will get an exhaust system fitted in next few months.

So the standard radiator is the ticket you reckon? My trans cooler kit should be here in a few days so that is one step in the right direction
