Suzuki Jimny Mud Tyres

Has anyone fitted mud tyres to a Jimny? I'm looking to purchase a 2009 Jimny for the sole purpose of off roading. I've only found A/T tyres so far, which are probably ok, but would prefer M/T's.
I've heard of 16" rims been used instead of the stock 15"s, anyone done this? and is this likely to cause any steering shake/wobble? I've seen plenty of references online to steering issues.
Cheers

Introduce yourself and put your location in your profile.
With your truck it depends on how modded or not you'll go. A mates jimny is running 32in sirocco's (simex copy). Jimnys seem to be a bit weaker than the sj's but still very capable. Lots of trick bits for em outta europe.

Please give more info. What is your budget, what sort of 4-wheeling do you want to do?

Not sure where to update profile. I'm from Hamilton.
I've mainly being doing simple tag-a-long trips in our 2006 Terios, but having low ratio would open a few more runs that I haven't being able to do.
Hadn't really thought about mods, but I'll start with some decent tyres and see how the Jimny performs. Depending on how capable it is a rear diff lock seems like a reasonable addition.

I am picking you want to keep your Zuk road legal too?
I am fairly sure most of the suspension lifts that worked for the coil sprung SJ fit the Jimny no problems.
They are great little trucks - on of the most capable off roaders you can get of the showroom floor.
enjoy

No, the SJ80 Samurai's have a front strut/spring setup, and Jimny's have a seperate coil and shock. 215/75/15 tyres would be a perfect fit for a standard Jimny. I would recommend driving the vehicle for a while before fitting a locker, they have a tendency to get you in sticky situations

Thanks for the advice and yes, want to keep it road legal. Just got to get a Jimny now! Proving to be a little more difficult that I thought, last one got sold before I could look at it.
Any thoughts on Maxxis Trepador (M8060) tyres? 205/70R15

I would go for a set of 215/75/15 tyres, the standard 205's look tiny

Bridgestone does the Dueler MT in 215/75 R15. I have them on my 2009 Jimny with a 2 inch lift and am pretty happy with them. You will have to take a file to the front bumper though as they do catch a bit, but all good after filing away a few millimetres of plastic.
