My starter motor was playing up
Apparently it may of been the solinoids loose the AA recons cause he could start the car by tapping the starter motor with a hammer gently but before he did that when we tried to start the truck it would either make a sound like a machine gun or no noise at all. When he left he forgot to put the bonnet of the truck down properly and I did not check this it rained that night and when I tried to start it the next morning ( only to see if I could start it to take it to someone to look at) the car started smokin at the starter motor and near the battery which was real hot. The smoke was the plastic from the leads and cables but was pretty bad. I'm not sure if it short circuited or water got in there over night. Any way the battery is stuffed the starter motor obviously will still have the same issue which started this. And I'm just wanting to try and get my truck back on the road. Any help or suggestions ? Thanks guys

Make sure all the battery connections are nice and clean and tight would be my guess.

x2. (Although the AA guy should have checked this for you)

I had the same problem (minus killing a battery and the smoke  ) so jammed some strips of silver in between the pole and the terminal as a temp fix......3 years later was still there and starting fine

go and see Jamie at Vantage auto, you'll probably have to book as they are always crazy busy.

hey mate "good" and "cheep" usually dont come into the same conversation

any basic starter motor motor problem should be able to be sorted out in the back yard otherwise any mechanical workshop should be able to sort it pretty easily if its above your ability to diagnose and rectifty without needing any specialised auto electrical services Image

thanks sadam my issue is i am not very educated with motors. I would love to learn and or watch some one as well so if it happened again i could address the issue. I fixed my truck 2 weeks ago where the fuel pump rusted and needed a new one and i sorted it. Was a big deal for me as my first bit of surgery on a car and felt very rewarding.
