Widend rims v new with center flipped
Widend rims v new with center flipped
Got 30x9.5s on 15x5.5s (413) at the mo and have been thinkin bout whipping up some 25mm spacers but dosnt seem economic, wld like to go to around a 32 and have been weighing up 15x7 or 8 but the -24ish(8's) wont sit them out far enough. My question is by the time I buy new rims (110) and have the centers flipped (60) it will cost a fair dollar, where as I can get the std rims widened for around 450+ to 7 to 9" and end up with 15x?? with -50.8 / 2" +- (at 7.5 without touchin the centers). Any thoughts wld be great?

Re: Widend rims v new with center flipped
You can get 15x8 Cragar 8's or D's and they have more offset according to a tire guy i talked to today. Cost around 160 a rim or maybe more?
I have 15x8 CJ jeep rims on my zuk and they have huge offset. Not measured them but can fit 32s fine.
You could run skinny 32s without widening but just flipping the centers of stock rims?. I've read on a few forums people running 9.5in wide 32's on the stock zuk rims.
Is it for a roadie or trailer rig?

Re: Widend rims v new with center flipped
Reg n wof bad boy
. I have 9.5 mudders on the stock rims(5.5s), lotsa tread left - they rub slightly on the inside rear. Just looking for an economic way to go wider and taller (32x11ish) am happy to go aftermarket "flares" to cover it. Just dosnt make sense to buy -24 15x8s and then pay to get centers flipped when I can get std rims widended "out". Asking the question incase I am missing somethin
The 30s are tight enough on the 5.5s, push em (with my foot) they flex at 32psi
Cheers

Re: Widend rims v new with center flipped
2 gains as I see it with new rims and centers
You can flip the rims so the long side beadlock is towards the outside this means the bead has to be pushed alot further in before you pop the bead.
You also get a spare set of rims so you could set a road set to save your mud tyres
I'd suggest getting a set of second hand 8's $200 is alot cheaper.... shop around Howie and me do re-centers for $50 each because thats what the competition were charging .... that works out cheaper than expanded rims
And you still have your old rims you can sell or use
Cheers Reece
