How much oil does a Vitara G16A/B take?

I have just put a baleno motor in my truck with a vitara sump and I'm not sure how much oil to put in. Its got almost 5L at the moment which seems quite a lot.

Its only at the bottom of the dip stick but I'm not so sure the calibration is so good

And no its not falling out the bottom

Hi, just to jump into your thread. What grade oil do you use? (and others for that matter) in your vitaras/escudos.

I am using 15W40, but I feel it might be a bit thin for my 93, with 180,000 on the clock, as in the mornings it seems a bit noisier than normal.

Hmm hows my 5 L going might need to drain that and get the right dip stick (me) on the job.

I use 10W/40 synthetic but I think I'll go back to a semi once I drain this lot out. It is pretty thin for the age of the engines.

I assume all the G16 variants used the same sump?? ie the same oil capacity....

Have you put yours through certification yet??

Yeah I have just run a vitara sump. It's a bit smaller as there is a crank angle sensor in the front. But yeah it should be the same capacity unless there is some secret oil store around the oil filter on the G16B block which the A doesn't have. (But in saying that there is a big block under the oil filter which has 6 tapped holes for possibly a factory oil cooler)

Oh and about the cert officer... I'm hmmm um looking into that

I still have a few bits to change around in the front diff/suspension area first
