Rear radiator mouting

Ive bought a rangerove thats cut down and the rad is mounted in the back,the old owner says its fine off road but on road it heats up,as the air going over the roof traps the air in the rear tray,anyone else had this problem.

I use a polycarbonate panel over the roof with my rear mount and it runs fine on the road.

I've never tried it on road without it but i do sometimes remove it for offroading as it tends to get covered in mud and restricts rearward vision ( allways nice to know if you're about to back into a tree )

Not that i have noticed, but it could be that its drowned out by the silverstones and the V8

The noise those silverstones make the people following you will be gettin head aches...

Just build a shroud for the fans so they are sucking all the air they can through the core, rather than just moving it around willy nilly, mine had no issues getting warm at all, whether it was banging on the limiter all day or cruising. The lack of airflow from the movement of the vehicle makes no difference whatsoever, the fans do the job no worries. You cant see it in this shot, but the front of my radiator is about 50mm from the back of the cab...

But do you drive it on the motorway like that?
cruising around in the bush is way different to 100kph.

Either way its getting no airflow from the vehicle movement, and all the air that the fans are moving is going through the core. You would think under max load with no airflow would be when its most likely to overheat no?

Exactly, max load being at highway speeds. It takes a ridiculous amount of power to push through air at 100kph thereby creating a lot of heat, sitting in a bog at 7000 revs is actually not a lot of load on the engine so not the same amount of cooling required.

you may be right... mines never going to do 100k, Id be interested to see how yours went at 100 without the panel
just make sure you have it with you if you try

Done a few now.... you will get an increase in temp on the open rd, good shouds are needed to improve the efficiency of the fans
One we beat it with very grunty fans off an Audi, had to negative fuse it as it had a habit of burning 60amp fuses
Another one I fitted two radiators
Another trick is fit large water lines under the truck these help with cooling
