Anybody keen on a bit of a wander up the the Kauri Coast on Sunday 21st October? Tide is low (real low) at 8.30 am.
I'm not very familiar with the area but understand that the idea is to go in at Pouto/North Head and work your way north up the beach. I'm very much a shiney but I hear there are plenty of spots to play on the way up the coast to exit at Omamari.
Thinking maybe meet up at Dargaville early and head down to Pouto for breakfast/brunch on the beach near the lighthouse. BBQ/Lunch further up before we head out??. Just an idea.
Anybody who's keen or anybody with good knowledge of the area that can suggest an idea please sing out. Would not be adverse to a bit of mud, etc, if some one has an idea.
Cheers. Bill

Be veerrryyyy careful of the quicksand, dont get tempted to go inland, especially if the tide starts coming in

Cheers XJ. I've heard you need to have a care down the Pouto end getting around the corner. Hence my call for anyone with some relevant local experience to join in.

Never had any issue around there aside from seeing a few folk straight off the enrty into the soft deep stuff. Nasty stuff is in areas on the north side of the light house and inland a little. Stick to between the water and the hi tide mark.
