Torque converter upgrades

Hi All
After doing all my engine and auto mods I have noticed a little slush so to speak in the auto....
After doing some research I believe its in my torque converter...
So with that in mind has anyone out there had their torque converters tweaked?

I know you can get high stall converters but that's not going to work with my diesel.....
I have heard you can get them tweaked the other way so they are tighter so to speak..
The auto in question is an A340 with a 1KZ on the front of it...
Any thoughts, observations and places in Auckland that could help...

Thanks

No help for your a340 but I just replaced the torque converter on a landrover diesel , as it was stuffed , with a moodified v8 one . I did not do the mod to make it fit , new mounts and slight change to the gearbox input etc . The new converter was off a v8 rover initially so the same gearbox family and still fitted within the bellhousing . I would have had expected the diesel to have a lower stall than the v8 but in this gearbox that was not the case , 2200 for the v8 and 2700 for the diesel . The net info I had was now that the diesel was slightly tuned a bit it was overpowering the t/c , as the v8 t/c was an inch bigger it helped as it was rated for more hp to start with .

Guess what I am getting at is a A340 box is reasonably common family . Wonder if a lexus torque converter or a 1HZ( 80 series cruiser , not sure if they are a340 ) one would fit in your bell housing etc .

While asking abut the box for the landrover a guy in assue said they could probably do what you talk about , ie de stall it etc and would be a viable option for a normal engine , howevere since the extra grunt probably was the final straw for mine ( ie the lock up clutch got eaten up ) a bigger converter was the better option . Really like the new converter :) , not sure it was worth it thou :)
