40 series steering damper

Evening All,
So I have a 40 series running 60 series power steering set up. When I bought it, there was no damper fitted.
I got hold of a brand new (cheap) damper and it has made very little difference. The truck is still very light in the steering at highway speeds, any ideas? It tends to wander and can be a handful, imagne it will be a b@&ch to drive any distance.
I am think that a heavier duty damper and/or maybe a RTC set up? All ideas and suggestions considered.

Steering dampeners are a bit of a band aid. By the sounds of it you arn't running enough caster. If your trucks been lifted then there is a very good chance that the diff has rotated forward. You could look at chopping off the knuckles on the diff and rotating them backward or................ dare I say it
............... try wedges between the spring perch and the leaves.

check alignment, at low speed is the steering still light? if so perhaps you need to decrease the pump pressure and reduce the assistance from the power steering, alter the pressure relief valve to achieve this

Cheers team for the ideas. I will look closer at all of these things.
There is a body lift and the front end has been lifted in the past, but look to be very standard springs on the front at the moment. Thinks 70's Ford Escort with over inflated air shocks on the back. (Everything goes faster downhill!)
It might improve itself if I get lifted springs back under it? Previously had OME all around, as the shocks are all there and the rear is still all OME.
