Just recieved the new Novak shift cable from USA today. Sent on 28/09/12 and arrived here today, excellent prompt service from Novak. Pleasing to deal with a reputable company that keep their word and offer excellent service. Too bad the shipping costs were so high. i can recomend them though. Hopefully I can fit it this week and get rid of all that transfer case shift linkage, get rid of that damn rattle. :D So the build continues, you wouldn't understand it's a jeep thing.

Now installed and what a difference! Great, I now have a very precise shift of the transfer case.
Before fitting I needed to switch the engine off, select neutral on the transmission then shift into 4WD or Low 4. Now this can be done while in Neutral but with the engine running. Before I needed to shift the transfer lever quickly slamming it through and even then at times would make crunching noises (gears not meshing) as not quite in gear properly. Occasionally I would be unable to select the transfer gear I wanted, needed to use low not high or visa versa, grrr.
Now the transfer gear is easy to select properly without needing to switch the engine off. Now is done smoothly and effortlesy with no crunching of gears.
And best of all I have eliminated all rattles in the Jeep! I had no idea how much difference that would make. Boy can I recommend the Novak shift cable.
The change over was very easy. The only problem I had was that one of the captive nuts within the chassis rail that attaches the bolts holding the crossmember on came loose. Getting the crossmember off became a real issue but with persiverence I finally got there. Then fixing the nut, which is hidden within the chassis rail, back into place and securing it so it would be able to hold the crossmember again was a real b*tch! Good to have Mates that can think outside the square and come up with a way that worked aye. Anyhow job done with excellent results, Yay!
