Excess Terrano tyre wear?

Gidday ORE, my neighbor has a Second generation R50 series Terrano that seems to burn through tyres every 70,000kms or so. They're looking at selling it as they're tired of going for wheel alignments and buying new tyres to no avail. Wondering if anyone on ORE has experience with them burning through front tyres and if its a common occurrence?!

so i have an older model, and my front tyres didnt wear properly, and the guy who put new tyres on reckon that it wasnt aligned properly. but i think driving style and terrain affects it too?

Peace

Is it uneven wearing the tyres? If so I'd think the wheel alignment guys may have missed something.
And 20000km, that on good tyres? Or just el-cheapo?
Or second-hand tyres?
Or is he winding speedo, and actually getting 40,000km???
No vehicle should excessivly chew tyres, I'd say theres something thats been missed...

Even wear from what I understand,
Good tyres, Goodyear ATs
Not winding speedo.

I was about to ask because camber on the old models requires schims to be fitted. Alot of alignment places don't do that.
Not sure if its the same with the later models. However it should wear on one side more if that was out. Usually from sagging suspension or being wound up to far.

Who does he get his alignments done by?

My advice:
- Make sure the height is set at desired level with torsion adjustment.
- Get someone to check and correct toe, caster, camber.
- Rotate tyres. Sounds like no rotation is occuring if he is letting the front wear out before the back.

R50's are Macpherson strut, so no shims. Coil springs too. You can alter the camber with either eccentric bolts, or simply slotting the (usually) top hole where the hub carrier bolts on. Any half-competent alignment tech can do it.
They kill the shocks pretty quick, get a shock test, shagged shocks won't help. Check all the lower arm bushes too.
20 000 k's is ludicrous on 4wd tyres, I haven't seen that since the days of the early Kumho muddies....there must be more to this story.

Apologies - its more like 60-70,000km to a set. They do a little towing of trailers and jet-skis but not much.

Wheel alignments done at Beaurepaires, have suggested they take it out to skiddy for a good look.
