OK, both rear window motors are working and the cables are moving in and out of the housing but not pulling the window up and holiding it up.

there is a plastric metal cylinder around the cables that go into the top and bottom of the housing, with springs around them. these seem to have been snapped off and move around with the cable.

is there an easy fix?

also, the central locking does not seem to work with the remote, but works fine with the key

any help urgently wanted please?

oh, its a 97 2.7 nissan mistral.

im no mechanic / engineer so if you are ind enough to reply, please do so in plain terms

thanks

can't help you with the windows but i found the door lock barrel gets a bit loose after a few years and moves around with the key... enough that it wont trigger the central locking. may pay to inspect it and tighten it up... it may seem tight with lateral force but it turns slightly with the key putting the trigger for the C/L out enough to stop it triggering.

ive fixed the central locking. the mounting bolts for the mechanism had come loose. i just fastened them up and zip tied em for extra secturiy and it works fine.

know the drivers door electric window- the relay makes a clicking noise as it should but he motor will not work. and as for the other electric windows, the plastic sheath that holds the cable in place is stuffed and torn up at bothe ends going into the motor housing, on bother the rear windows.....bastarhhhd!

The plastic bits on my terrano rears did the same. I think the motors run to long and the cable wants to travel to far and breaks the weakest link. I fixed mine by pulling it out, using a couple of small cable ties to hold the lump on the cable in the right spot on the carrier and then epoxy glued it all together. Worked mint for next 10yrs till i sold it. Cant help with the messed up cable though.

As for the actual motor that drives the window.

Car companies dont make money by making a different part for each model of each car they produce.... I think you will find a rumage through the local wrecker or pick apart will come up with the correct replacement from a bluebird, primera, pulsar, nivara, etc etc. same for door locks, window switches(the actual switch not the plastic surround) seat belts auto trans linkages etc etc are mostly interchangeable between models of similar years
