safari diff lock rebuild time?

Hey ORE,

So ive picked up a factory rear diff locker. Sweet! or so i thought... after having the engineers check it over and shave a bit off the bottom its sat in my shead ready to be fitted. Curiosity got the better if me and i cracked it open for a geeze. Seems the engineers that 'checked it' did so with their eyes closed. On inspection i found that the 'lobes' that lock the diff are only half there.... grrrr. Basicaly half of each of the blocks have been reduced to 45* slopes

Not ideal! Whos the place to take it to in chch for repair? - im presuming its not just a standard engineer fix up? Any one roughly know what i might be up for cost wise?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for that Andy, i made a quick trip to chch today and dropped the complete diff nuget off at a crowd called duralloy... and since i was over the hill picked up a set of wrx ra seats for the old girl 8) . Im yet to have a firm quote given for the dogs to be rebuilt but had a ball park price of 200-400 to have the job done. I'll let you know what the quote is when i get it next week. I dont know much about diffs, will the backlash have to be reset if the diff is disassembled?

Yes backlash will have to be set best way to get it right is mark each side adjusters against the carrier with different marking for each side and count each side how many times you have to turn to undo for both sides and reverse to put back together
