Surf KZN185 Radiator

Post by Xr246 »

Hi

Im after a new radiator for my surf
Looking at getting rid of the 27mm thick one and put in something a bit more beefy. Mainly to safegaurd the head as i do a little bit of towing

Ive tired a lot of radiator places in chch and had no luck on getting a after market one that is thicker

Has any one put a thicker one in their truck? and where can you get them from?
Its a auto surf

Cheers

don't know about thicker one but if the surf is an auto get a manual radiator and an aftermarket transcooler.

I have a trans cooler mounted in series with the original in tank trans cooler
When towing on hills i notice the temp gauge creeps up as soon as u button off the gas the gauge drops down quite quick

makes it easy then, get rid of the tank cooler.
check the fan if you havn't already.

i know guys in ozzie run into overheating problems due to the size of the radiator. ozzie spec surf has bigger radiator and they have plenty of aftermarket ones built there.
but over here its not hot enough for that to be such an issue.

the other thing is to cool the egt's down.

big exhaust, intercooler, more boost.

Kaiapoi radiators can get in a copper one for just over 350 which has bigger cores and no plastic tanks.
