Dulux overhaul

Post by Heath »

What paint is recommended for engine block and transmission for a "dulux overhaul"?

And what prep work is required? Will be done properly later on when it's stripped down, but for now after I clean the accumulated crud off I'd like to give it a spruce up. Prefer in spray cans so touch ups and rematching colours will be easier.

Engine is steel and transmission is ali.

Cheers.

Tried to clean the engine and transmission today. Tonnes of degreaser (cheap crap), some carby cleaner and simple grean.

Carby cleaner is great and works a treat (but expensive), cheap degreaser from warehouse (autohaus???) is shite, might remove a film of oil from a greasy plate but not this stuff. Cheap Supa chump degreaser seemed to work okay (but ran out), but didnt move the really stuborn stuff. Simple grean is awesome, did a better job than the others, but still couldnt get it all off. Was using a waterblaster to remove the shite and it still didnt want to shift much. Upart from the crap staining my drive that is - LOL.

Steam cleaner might shift this gunge I think, but I dont have one.
