Were is the best place to mount spotlights ?

Post by Bush Chef »

Hi all
I have just grabbed a set of 4 spotlights to bolt onto the Surf .
The question I would like to put to the forum is
Were is the best place to install spotlights ?

On a roof bar ? or on my bullbars?

What would be the pros and cons to each ?
The roof would keep them out of water and mud but the bullbars would keep them clear of low branches.
What option gives me a better light coverage?

Any advice would be much appreciated
Thanks

on the roof you can get glare on the bonnet which can make it a bit harder to see things at night .i say bullbar

If you mount them further back you can avoid that somewhat.

If its on a roadie when mounted on the bull bar the lights have to be tied to your hi beam circuit I think. On the roof they don't as they are work lights then or some thing similar.

Roof, you can see shit better. They shine over the top of things like small banks and scrub etc

Roof offers a better angle to shine down into holes so you can see how deep they are.

Bullbar because on the roof they catch on every branch.

Thank you all for your advice guys .
I have gone with the roof option for now ,but I have made it a ezy bolt on/off style so I can change it any time . Handy if I need to put longer items on the roof racks .

I placed it far enough back so it wont light up my bonnet .

Nice work.
If they are easily removed for bush bashing that's the go. But otherwise they get a hammering up there on some tracks. But your ride looks to shiny for real offroading. 8)
The main reason I have mine on the bull bar is, it won't fit in the garage if I mount anything on the roof.
Are those HID's? How much power do they draw?
