4.0l into a 4 speed classic

i have a 4.0l out of a p38 that i want to put in my 2 door but i wana keep the 4 speed. big question is has anyone seen this done as im strugling to find any info on this type of coversion.

Can be done. You will need to get around computer issues as I think the ECU in the P38 also had something to do with gearbox and body control unit.
Unless of course you were planning to run the carbs on it rather than injection.
Simon Buck from Devon 4x4 in UK used to run a 2-door Rangie with the 4.6 V8 but he also ran the auto gearbox and factory computer systems.

cheers just had a look he is running the thor 4.6 but could work. i really wana run the coil packs but the fly wheel ins becoming a pain as there were very few p38 manual v8s.
if i was to run a hei dizzy it would be simple lol

The 4.6 and the 4.0 are basically same engine, unless you have an early one. None of the 4.6's we got here were manual, but they were available in UK, especially in the 4.0 ones. A fly wheel from the Discovery 2 V8 might suit as they used the same manual gearbox (5 speed) as the P38. Give the guys at Exedy Clutches a call, they make flywheels, mostly to replace dual mass ones but they might have something to suit.
To run the dizzy I think you will need to change the front cover
