VIP III, remote car starter

Post by heuge65 »

Hi, so I'm digging around my new truck with a view to putting in a turbo timer and I've found this thing up in the foot-well, a "J I Corporation, VIP III, Remote Car starter and no amount of searches will reveal anything about it. I assume it was installed by one of the original owners in Japan but there isn't too much out there about the unit. So, anyone know anything about these? I'd be most keen to use the unit but if unable to I'd ask, since it's been installed what else could I put in in it's place? I'm assuming the connector and 'connections' are standard for this kind of unit, anyone know anything about this?

The trick would be getting a remote for it. but if there`s no info about it, might be outta luck.

Yep, sourcing a remote is a possibility as is substituting something else in there. I've halfway given up on finding a remote. There's bugger all on the net regarding anything of the above.

Can you send me a pic of the bottom of the unit, serial numbers, product numbers etc?

This used to be done by some of the vehicle alarm systems as an add on basically allows you to start the car remotely so air cons runs and cools it down before getting in .....believe it or not!

if you have a 24v power supply it might be possible to use a gate opener to control this unit.

To be honest I'd rather get something that functions correctly and maybe even update on what's already there. I am thinking that this maybe easier to do since the connector is there that is on the ignition circuit and gearbox cutoff (or whatever it is that stops the keys from turning when it's in gear, etc). Mostly though it appears there is little if any information regarding these units and hopes of finding a transceiver unit faded pretty much as soon as I saw nothing in the net.
