The car has only done 240 ks and has been totally reliable for last 9 years and seems a pity to wreck I would love the motor in my 110.Also does any one know if a safar auto will fit as I know of a good one cheap . cheers nick

Gidday - you could try giving it a good service/flush, changing the filter etc... I assume you have checked the linkages from the shifter to the box?

I had a similar problem with a terrano a few years back, and then again with a Safari... both times ended up having to replace the trans - seems like the Reverse is the 1st to go in the Nissan boxes?

And the TD27 box is quite a bit smaller than the TD42.

Good luck :)

Reverse gear has gone will need a replacment pump and gear set, If you do reverse only about $1600 or do the whole box about $2300. Had this happen to me so I sold as is where is. Provided you dont need to use reverse, it is fine and will drive anywhere for thousands of kms yet

Another option to consider could be a 2nd hand box - I got one complete, including transfer case and 12 month warranty for $500. That was 2 years ago, and its still going strong.

That is exactly what happened to my one. Pulled into an angle park went into the shop came out started up dropped it into reverse and nope nothing, rang my auto man and he told me wht the problem was. We pushed it back out on to the road then I drove down to Whangarei for him to check his diagnosis and yep he was correct. Told me that is how they go, no warning what so ever

The missing link , guess what went out to truck and started it to run motor ,charge battery etc and put in reverse for a laugh. You guessed it, I went backwards with handbrake on .
Well f*** me I pulled plastic cover off behind shifter and saw a cable outer moving back and forth with a c type clip sitting below . I put clip back on cable outer and she goes like a raped ape . This just cost me $3500 for new car duh but I wonder how many others will sleep well tonite thinking about their broken nissan autos .
