1991 Proceed / ford Ranger Suspension?

Post by nzdncjw »

hey there I've just bought a 1991 Proceed.... I know they aren't great in the suspension department - what have people done or can suggest to do to these to increase the off road ability?

For the rear I was thinking longer shocks in the back as the factory ones max out on full drop, maybe longer shackles to go with the shocks but there are no after market shackles available from the digging I have done so far.

In the front? there is limited if not no wheel travel up front... :) Basically no options I can think of? I could wind it up a wee bit to match the rear height, but that wont help travel - can you get a lock-right or the likes for these trucks? that would help for when the wheel leaves the ground!

Thanks for any help suggestions....

I'm not after a tuff truck just something that is capable of getting me through the odd decent club trip and some hunting trips around Southland.....

I've put a set of SAT tyres on it for the time being (they were free!)

Thanks!

to be realistic mate theres nothing you can really do to increase its off road ability other than selling it and buying something more offroad capable, those sorts of vehicles might be 4wd but there built 90% onroad and 10% offroad and thats all there meant to be. You could throw a few grand at the suspension and tyres but it'll wont make a big difference to its capability
