Hey guys

I'm just about to fab myself up some drop boxes for my SWB Patrol which is predominantly road bound right now but plan to have the odd play in the brown stuff, I am planning on fitting 35" tyres when the current 33's fail WOF, thats of course after the 4" spring lift and 2" body lift.

Oh yeah, the questions!

How many of us out there are running drop boxes, and how are they working for you? I am aware of the option of castor correction bushes but they do affect articulation, also aware of the downside of drop boxes as the affect ground clearance behind the front wheels

Now, guard rub/binding, so to counter this you can cut the guard a bit but i'm trying to avoid this by shifting the front diff foward 20mm, hope this will be enough.

So yeah just putting it out there to see if anyone has any tips or tricks when running drop boxes

Ran drop boxes on my old safari, were real good. I personally wouldnt do the 2" body lift. Dont need it and prone to tearing body mounts, 4" lift should be fine for 35s, although I only ran 33s with my 4" spring lift. There a big heavy whale and a low COG is best.

you should piss in with a 4in susp lift.you are best to replace the plastic flares with some conveyor belt.
As said body lifts in safaris are not a good idea
Also you can only push the front diff foward about 15mm max before the diff head hits the panhard rod.
there is plenty of room for guard adjustment though.
If you make the drop boxes right you should be able to return the castor back to the factory settings or pretty close to it

the idea of drop boxes is the radius arms will parallel to the ground the front axle moves better

Ahh i did wonder why most boxes only shifted foward 15mm, cheers for the info
