Flat spots

Post by zukmeista »

The new tyres I got for my Zook seem to have flat spots from sitting around too long, any tips for making them round again? I have tried letting all the air out and driving around on them, made no difference. Was wondering if I put like 50psi in them and left them in the shed for a while would that fix it?

Bugger..Im not sure how permanently affected 4wd tires are, but I know when I use to run some pretty decent high speed rated tires on my little Mazda GTX back in the day they would be really bad for flat spotting. And my old Valiant that can sit there for 6months at a time gets it too. Both of them would usually come right after a decent thrashing and a long drive. I think the key is getting some heat into the tires, which makes them more malleable.
Maybe try under inflating and going for a decent drive at a reasonable speed to get some flex happening in the side wall which will get them nice and warm, then over inflating to try and 'set' them round again while they are still warm and going for another good long drive?

Yeah I tried the underinflation thing but I couldn't go very fast because the centrifugal force made the tyres hit the guards. Will get the guard chop sorted and retry it maybe.

Inflate to normal pressures and go for a long drive, so that they warm up properly.
Get this with the Simex's when vehicle hasn't been used for a while. Bumpy to start with but eventually come back after getting really warmed up.
