3B Turbo?

Has anyone put a Turbo on their 3B diesel before?

Is there an easy and cheapish way to put one on, like getting one off a 13-BT, or any other way to gain a bit more power?

Yes. Yes I have. Exactly that. Get a turbo manifold from a 13bt and a ct26 turbo and fit it up. Run water lines and oil feed line. Weld in an oil return above the "high tide" mark in the sump, rig up new custom intake and get a dump pipe too and if ya can't find one, make one. make one to finish your custom install.

Also a couple of trick bits like tabbing new arm for the dump valve actuator and turning the feed side of the turbo a touch plus the centre also.

had to spin the intake side of the turbo to clear exhaust manifold and point towards engines air intake, and rotate the centre to create the stock set up of the oil infeed and drain pointing down, then had to adjust the mounting of the vacuum operated dump valve doomage..


then it all sits under bonnet line nicely..

i have a b or 1b motor with the manifold fliped and an adaptor plate made to mount the turbo to the manifold.haven't got any photos sorry but its abit of a budget looking setup anyway

I've also heard about Mitsubishi turbo being used.

How does the 3B handle the turbo?

Does anyone have all the parts needed for setting up a turbo, or know anyone that does? I'm in Taranaki.

Also how much would it cost to get one put on my engine, I wouldnt know how to put one on or have the right tools for the job

some people think it makes them run bigend bearings etc but depends on the condition of the motor your using and how your treating it

we put turbo from a 13bt on our 3b and it has been pretty much to the moon and back with never needing a spanner on it. It does only run 7psi though. not a rocket ship but man can it tow stuff and it hangs on up the big hills.
In all honesty the only tool that has been used on the engine in 10years is a spanner to undo the sump plug.

i have got a whole custom setup with a rayjay turbo off a aeroplane it hauls ass still in truck running am up grading to 2h motor and has any got any info on wat turbo they used on a 2h as im on the hunt may one of a 1hdt? any info be gud
