Can anyone tell me.
Are there different transfer cases in the LJ/KZJ Prados. Different between Auto and Manual?
I have an Auto LJ78 and have been offered a transfer from a KZJ 78 as mine is a bit worn and I am looking at replacing it so I can rebuild my transfer case.
So just really wanting to know if they are interchagable.
thanks

So an LJ 70 series Prado has the outlet on the left hand side as well. I thought they were all solid axle with the 3rd on the right hand side.
KZ 90 series Prado's are all IFS and on the left side.

Maybe reading it wrong....... :?

My bad, I see you were talking about KZJ 70 series as well. Carry on

The Kzj78 has a big pin 70 series transfer case, can get rebuild kits. As far as I know the LJ ans KZJ 78's have the same case, unsure if the 2.4 vs 3.0 are different ratio's. Know the diffs are.

just make sure its an auto one as if you get a manual one you will need to strip the transfer apart to change the front housing also oil lines ect ect been there done that. will you be getting rid of your old one??

Cheers for that.
Will look at keeping mine for the time being and rebuilding it once I work out why it won't stay in Lowbox

I have to correct you Bill.
In the Prados the ratios are;
2.4 (2L-TE) has 4.88 R&Ps
3.0 (KZ-TE) has 4.3 R&Ps

Just in from a 19 hr maintenance shut. A big day!Cheers John

They were 4.1's in mine...4.8's proves I'm getting old though
