broken sway bar mount

Post by benorange »

how do you stop breaking sway bar mount brackets on a lifted kzn130 surf? it not huge lift. was like it when i brought it. had a broken one then and i fixed it but now it broken the other side.

can you just drop the chassie mount lugs down or do i need to get longer rods.

usually extending the two arms of the side of the sway bar by the lengths of the lift does it. when you do this make one quick release so that when off road you can disconnect the sway bar with ease

It not because of your lift thats doing it. Very common for them (L/VZ/KZ-N130) to deform bracket, then crack and break.
Best bet is get new brackets from toyota, fit with new bushes, and make sure bolts are in good condition (not bent, partly stripped etc), and do 'em up tight.
I agree with vvilly, if doing much rough offroad a swaybar-disconnect will reduce the loading on it, making it last longer

Mines the same. Deformed the bracket, them snapped a bolt.

I just removed it completely. No handling difference at all.
Front is so stiff it makes up for it. Still corners like a go kart.

Also it flexs alot more now.

My front one snapped too. Just wacked it out and took the back one out while I was at it. Handles about the same, raised trucks aren't made for cornering so you shouldn't be going fast enough around corners to notice a major difference!

Plus they handle sooo much better offroad!!
