Turbo Diesel nubee

Hi all,
More nubee questions, this time more towards the turbo. What do all the numbers mean?

eg TD04L-13T or TD04HL -15T

-13T, is this the size, pitch or weight of the turbines?

Whats the dif between the L and the HL?

I sometimes see T2, T28, TB02..wat do these mean?

Also, do they all have ball bearings? or only the flasher models?

I have a 89 Terrano, what Turbo would be on this, and do all D21 Terranos have the same turbo when standard? Are outlet flanges/dump pipes the same pattern?


I hope all these questions aren't too tiring

Hi there,
you are one the right track by searching the net for the answers to your questions.
Turbo codes are just the same as engine codes, far to many numbers and letters to care about. if you want to be a walking encyclopedia of turbos, go hard search to you hearts content. Most people get bored in about 30mins (I live with a ex turbo tech)

The T series codes are garrett, so many different variations you will have a great time

If you dont care about all the numbers, letters and stuff...and only care how to make your terrano go better, im sure many on here have played with them ( sibainmud I think his handle is..... one goes well)
