Wot do i need to do in order to fit 33x12.5 15 mtrs on my 93 bighorn? would a 50mm sus lift be enough? thanks in advance

I ran 3" on my swb, and had guard rub at full travel, but it would depend on your rim offset too I would think.
Might be worth going 2" suspension, and perhaps a small body lift? You will need a cert anyway, so a body lift as well could be an option

The 50mm suspension lift will help, but they will still rub - you will need at least a 35, and may as well go 50mm, body lift.
Also, when you do that, do a ball joint flip on the front arms to help with travel and wheel alignment.

wot sort of off set is best? i think standard is +38. should i stick with that. I ask becoz im down sizing to 15s coz tires are cheaper.
Thanks

Can't remember the offset, but mine were landcruiser offset rims, which are the same as run on Safari's too if that helps

I dont really want to do a body lift as i dnt want to get a cert. My drift car still isnt certed. whats the bigest tire with just a 50mm sus lift? ps i dont mind bashing guards. Thanks again

You could get 32's on with a 2" lift. If you did manage to cut the guards enough to run 33's on a 2" lift, you would need a cert for the tyres anyway, and at a guess, you would need one to run 32's as well.

15'' dont fit my 93 bighorn, i found this out friday

i ordered a new set of white mangel wheels and tyres took the car to cambridge tyre and wheel for fitting and the wheels hit the calipers in a big way, even with some dressing with a grinder so my advice would be check it out first. i know 15's fit as i have seen bighorns with them on???? i have to go to 16'' and pay alot for tyres.. i was not amused but garage asked manufacturer if they fit before he ordered them in and they said yes so it didnt cost me anything.

Were they Hilux offset or the listed offset for a bighorn? Hilux offset will most likely fit in a 15 where the Bighorn offset probably won't...

I was told that ROH etc don't have a 15" listing for Bighorns, so used the Landcruiser offset. Was told Hilux offset would have the caliper clearance problem. I would've thought the Hilux/cruiser would be th same...

I've found my cruiser rims with 31x10.5x15 tyres fit fine on the bighorn. The backspace is less so they sit a bit wider, but no rubbing. I don't think you could go any bigger without a lift & some guard trimming. If you're having caliper clearance issues - just get some 6mm spacers for around $30/pair.

IFS Hilux Surf have a problem, but solid-axle Hilux are the same or wider the cruiser depending on model. The best off-the-shelf offset in a 15 or 16" rim is the solid axle Hilux rim. That doesn't mean they will always clear calipers better tho, as that comes down to the profile of the inside of the rim...

yes it was bighorn offset, allegedly... bit dissapointed actually.. not buying 16'' without more research becouse i have seen them on bighorns.

I had a similar thing with my mu, one tyre shop in kaiapoi told me I would have to get the rims modified to suit the mu s big calipers. Then I went to goodyear in chch and the guy said that mangel make a rim to fit the mu s big calipers . Either 15x8 or 15x10.

As far as IFS Hilux Surfs are concerned, widebodys run a -20 offset (this is what i have) and narrowbodys run -8.

ive had my 33s on some alloy mags and some roh 15x7 steel rims with no trouble. pushed guards out with bottle jack then folded them at the sills and they all fitted. also do the ball joint flip and also with the top control arm camber spacers you can angle the front hub closer to the front of the wheel arch.which gives you about 2inchs more room.at the rear of the front tyre.make some 200mm rear leaf shackles and your away laughing

IFS, wide body Surfs have an 8 offset rim (mine has) and the Prado's and 80# Cruisers have the -20, I think.
SOME TIMES I SIT AND THINK OTHER TIMES I JUST SIT,
FITZY.
