Right I have purchased a safari with a factory with a factory PTO winch, only to find the PTO box unit and shaft have been removed when the turbo conversion was done. (old owner doesnt have unit but has refunded me some $$ ).
Next I have purchased a PTO unit apparently to suit TD42 safari box, Only to find the unit I have has a 4 bolt flange and the gearbox has 6 bolt.
So basically I'm looking to:
1) Identify the unit I have so I can on sell it (I'm not even convinced it is a Nissan unit)
2) find out what variations of pto drive unit the are for different models of safari. So I can correctly identify a unit that will work.
My safari is a 1988 Y60 td42 manual

looks like a MQ or MK safari pto to me
its been a while since i was playing with them but they are also 4 bolt

wont fit any y60 gearbox dude. the gq or y60 PTO drive has 6 bolts

That looks very much like MK MQ to me as well

Cheers for that guys sounds like I do have a MQ / MK drive unit.

So now Im on the hunt for a y60 unit, just so I dont end up in this same situation again will any Y60 unit bolt up?

Are you meaning are the gears in the MQ the same as the GQ? No they are different.

Had thought about this, if I could weld a new flange on and machine it up to suit, but a definite no go.

Had a quick search on here but not a lot of info on my situation.

I have a 3inch dump pipe off my turbo that comes down between the inside of the chassis and the gearbox, but basically blocks off there the pto shaft would head through to the front.

Im after some ideas of what to do from anyone who has a pto and 3 inch exhaust setup?

yep cut a hole next to strut tower and do this............

My dump is 3" and goes down between the chassis etc like yours does.
I had 'massaged' the dump to clear the PTO shaft but when Tom (Tomsoffroad) welded the dump to the exhaust for me he also welded it in such a way that gave it more clearance from the shaft.

Bit of a bugger cos I didn't need to massage it with the top job Tom did lol.

Easy enough to get to fit. Up near the front of the motor there is a pto shaft guide/bearingbracket. Just cut the flatbetween bearing andwere it bolt to truck and lengthen to suit. Sorry dont have a pic anymore and don't have truck to take pic but thats howmine was done.
