New Surf Owner in Palmy.

Post by HomeBrew »

Hey Guys

So im just getting into the whole 4wd thing. Trucks a 1991 3.0L V6. 2inch Body Lift and 31inch muddys.

Really keen for someone to show me the ropes. Been around Ashurst a couple times with a mate but neither of us REALLY new what we were doing. Seen way to many idiots my age rolling and wrecking there 4wd's. Couldnt imagine doing that to my new toy.

Anyway heres a pic.
Any suggestions on what to add on next?
Really keen to get out in some mud SOON haha flick us a message if your in the area.

Shaun

A good radiator... 4 core type as these are prone to blowing gaskets.

An extra set of front CV's are always handy

The rear LSD's tend to be okay but might be gettin a bit long in the tooth with the age of the truck.

bull bars and a winch could be a good start and will get the whale out of alot of tricky spots.

As you can see. Image

Thanks for the reply.
Yeah first things i was thinking about was Bullbars and a Snorkel. Winches seem expensive and easy to break(Thats just what ive heard)

Anygood places in the manawatu to go looking for these

I purchased two 9500 pnd ridge rider winches from super cheap for 400 each, one to try out and one for spares... on boxing day i winched four bellied vehicles having only to double line pull the second one being a patrol on A/T's with a trailer.

when i purchased it i upgraded the cables to the battery and put heavier lubricants in the gearbox and the second winch is still in its box.

by all means they are not a super winch, fast or quite but for there price they have proven there worth.
