Nissan PTO winch bronze gear removal
does the bronze gear tap off the shaft or do you have to get it pressed off, pulled my spare winch down that wont winch under load and it looks like the bronze gear has been put on without the keyway
anyone know where I can find an exploded view or schematic of the winch anywhere?

Will look in my manual tomorrow and see if it has the winch part for you.

It should just tap off the shaft.(with a bit of effort)...its only located by the keyway....

Re: Nissan PTO winch bronze gear removal
cheers for that Calvin your good at finding all that sort of shit
I had a trawl through the patrol forum last night and didnt bother looking through that thread coz it was about oil, I guess I should have in hindsight, still looking for another exploded view though coz its the freespool end where the hub is that I need both my winches are assembled differenly and I dont know which bits are missing and which bits are in the wrong order
got the bronze gear off it was fawking tight and pretty close to needing pressing to move it, I stuck the shaft down a piece of pipe and smacked the shaft down with a drift and BFH, didnt have to take the gear right off it only had to go to the end of the shaft to expose the slot for the keyway, had a look through the spare winch bits and found 3 keyways, 2 of them were a bit distorted with side loading and the last one looked pretty reasonable so I threw that one in and smacked the bronze gear back down in the reverse process of getting it off, the spline on the end of the shafts got a reasonable twist in it but I guess they all have
still looking for an exploded view of the freespool end tried all that google shit last night and didnt come up with anything

Thanks, I tend to put in some key words and then look at the pictures....
Found heaps of stuff that way rather than looking for the txt alone...
Cause I have found people don't always call the thing you are trying to find by its proper name
I am not skool'd up on the Nissan Free-spool system.... Looks just like a free wheeling hub to me....
The toyota one is a simple sliding dog...(if that's what it is called)
Monstr may have some info....Can call him tonight and ask....
Cheers Calvin

Re: Nissan PTO winch bronze gear removal
it just comes apart like a free wheeling hub. Easy enough to do. Everything just(should) slide off after the circlip is removed.
Re: Nissan PTO winch bronze gear removal
I've got an exploded diagram on a pdf. I can email it to you if you send me an email address.
