I have a LN130 surf which has had a 2" suspension lift done.

it failed a WOF today as when on hoist the rear brake line is over stretched. is there a line off something else people have used to replace it that is longer? or a trick you can do (bend plates or something) to help get a bit more length from the line

Longer hoses are available from BNT

are they a generic fitment as far as the connections go? my only car so worried if I do something and it fails I cant drive somewhere to fix it

If you tell the bnt guy what you have got they look it up in their book and can compare to other vehicles and find one that is longer...
Or you can get one which is a few inches long and attach to your original one...

thanks for your help, been googling and it seems an LJ70 item has enough length to work in its place.
will confirm tomorrow if it does, as Im sure many others will have this issue

Ive got some braid lines made up to suit my body/suspension lift. Damn glad I did, as I got hooked up a month or so ago and this happen to my rear braid line.......


And it still worked!! Which kinda shocked both me and the guy who made the lines.

If it was a standard extend rubber type hose, it would have split/broke and I would have lost the rear brakes.

Yes I know they arent legal on roading going vehicles, but I'd have braid line anyday IMHO they are so much more safer than the rubber ones..... Even old Monty has braid lines!! and he still got WOF's

I have never dealt with braided lines on 4wds, but have dealt with them alot for the performance modded vehicles, I had them on mine, and failed a WOF with them, but still maintain that they are a metric F*** tonne safer than the rubber conterparts!!

at the moment I am just thinking of WOF, but I have never thought about the snagging possibility off road. cheers for shedding that light

I know as far as the racing scene went you could find the od brand that were approved for NZ use, but the majority had no quality control from the factory so even though you knew in your head they were good, the NZTA wernt willing to allow them, you can however get these certed in an LVV cert, and I guess it just comes down to if you get them certed, the NZTA know that someone has looked at them and are satisfied they wont leak/burst etc.

from memory off th shelf BF Goodrich ones were legal as they had the right ratings or whatever it was. but as far as my race car went, I could get a kit of 4 brembo (big brake name) braided lines for about $180 but a set of BF Goodrich approved hoses were about $320

I never really understood this fact, In my opinion fitting bigger/better brake componants is only making your car safer, but need LVV cert for it all to make sure it is done right, yet I could fit all the same stuff but OEM size, same risk of stuffing it up, but no LVV cert needed....

Mine are stamped with rating type info ...were about $125 each & custom made to length.

then they should (read SHOULD) be legal afaik
