That looks similar to the gauge that i used. Not sure how accurate it is, but seems very responsive at least, so hopefully that bodes well.
I drilled out and tapped the hole for the heat shield immediately in front of the turbo inlet. I did that with the motor running. If you do it with the motor running i suggest you wear safety goggles as swarf gets blown out.
Tapped it the same way but coated the tap in grease to trap most of the swarf.
From memory it is a bit of a bastard size tap. Should have one around here if you need it -and you're in Auckland.

you will need to be pre turbo as it starts reading at 200c. if fitted after turbo it will be reading nothing for a large part of the time.
a diesel egt gauge would be better. tend to start at 0 and go to 900. i think autogauge have one in 2"
thread size are usually 1/8npt which is an odd sized tap over here as its USA plumbing thread.. theres usually some for sale on TM.

Just bought same one off Aliexpress. Took about a week to arrive direct from China. Cost about $85 landed..... including exhaust heat wrap, and turbo bleed valve! No reason to buy these off a local box shifter.

So it needs to be installed on the exhaust manifold?
