cant get egt gauge to read

Put the probe in the manifold and had it idling for abit and nothing was reading on the the gauge so it took it for a drive and still nothing on the gauge
any ideas?

Does the gauge start at 200 deg? It needs a bit of load to get to this, drive up a hill somewhere and see....

Other option is to pull the probe and put it over a small flame.

Did you wire it up correctly...
If the probe wires are transposed it will read the opposite way...

what type of gauge??? i had this problem when i brought a gauge a few months back it was faulty had to wait for them to send it to malaysia 3 weeks noot cool

Ok, I had one of those in mine, in fact I have the digital version in there now. They work fine. Check the sensor, I had a faulty one which they replaced under warranty. I got mine direct off e-bay though...
Any chance of a pic of the manifold setup?

Im in hastings i got it to work by holding a lighter on the probe i just didnt wait long enough the first time

I'm on my second one of these gauges also bought from trademe. The back light for the needle and display keeps failing. Still reads temp but have to squint too read it.
I guess you get what you pay for lol

nothing a couple of well placed leds wont fix....
