Hi. I have just picked up a Pajero of my sister than has been sitting a while. It's a 1993 3.5L v6. It broke down on her just cut out. The ecu was taken down from where it's mounted for some reason and left in the floor. While its been sitting the foot well filled up with some water now the ecu is corroded on the circuit board. When you try starting it it back fires trough inlet and kicks back on the starter like its really advanced. Is there any common Problems?? Also I would like a s/h ecu the number is MD197758

First off check your cam belt if she said it just cut out?? might of slipped or jumped a few teeth that might explain why its popping back through the intake etc. if thats all good find somone u can borrow a ecu from just to try if u say yours is all corroded inside i would prob replace anyway.

yep deffo check timing and get a ecu for it. Make sure the fuel pump is working ok if u can get it running and if it keeps stoping see if u can hear the fuel pump prime up when u turn the ignition back on and when cranking might be a faluty pump.

I found a ECU fitted it and it did not fix the problem. However it needed replacing as the old one was rusted an corroded. I then checked the cam and crank sensor. I was getting a signal from these so the last thing it left was the ignighter. I fitted a new one and that fixed it. So it's all up and running
