put a meter on it and see what voltage its getting and for how long.

could also be an injection problem.

ok have had a meter on it and gets 6 volts for couple of seconds then drops to around 3 volts.this dosnt seem right for a 24v truck. was thinking about just running a heavy duty button in the dash to run the glows manualy?

Hi

I have had a lot of contact issues with my glow plugs.

First take the power rail off the top of the glow plugs and measure the resistance.

they should all measure the same and I will check later for you but I think it was 20 Ohms resistance.

Then put the rail back on cleaning the contacts.

then put a meter on the power rail to the Glow plugs and turn the key on.
It should read 24 volts approx while the Glow light is on in the dash. After that light goes out it drops to 12 or so for 5 seconds approx then to 0 volts.

This should tell you where the problem is.

Yes a lot of people have put a manual switch in. just watch you cant have the glow plugs on for more than 20 seconds or so. you will burn the glow plugs out.....

i would be looking at the connection points. glow rail and feed cable.
see what voltage it gets before and after the relay. could simply be burnt relay contacts or a corroded fuse.
