Hi Guys, a question for you crusier guru's. how is the transfer case driven from the transmision on an auto HZJ73 with the 1HZ motor. Mine gave a small bang then lost drive today and need to know what may have happened.
Cheers in advance

Hi. Its gear driven. If you don't have a pto winch you might be able to remove that side cover and have a look at the transfer case input shaft/gear side of things. You might be able to see if transfer case input (=gearbox output) is spinning when the auto turns, which might narrow down if its the auto or transfer case (put it in 2wd and up on axle stands), but to fix anything the transfer case will need to be split anyway. If you are not comfortable pulling it down yourself and exploring for the problem I'd suggest getting it a mechanic - could be auto or transfer case issue. Cheers.
