Seems Nissan built a lot (too much?) wheel travel into their torsion bar 4x4 system. Well, a lot in IFS terms.
I'm wondering if anyone has had inner CV problems/failures with the front sway bar removed?
Not sure if the increased travel is worth the increased "oh sh*t" factor

Removal of sway bar dosn't increase wheel travel as such, it allows wheel to travel full distance easier when cross flexed. Bump stops limit wheel travel. Rip it off I say

Ahh makes total sense, I stand corrected.
So other than making it less floppy on road, does the front sway have any purpose?
kbjj in your IFS days, did you run with it off?
Cheers

Yeah for the front it doesn't matter as the IFS can only travel so far. I have both front and back sway-bars out. The driving takes a bit of getting used to and don't drive it hard on the road around corners, she isn't a great handler. But offroad its great fun.
I was seriously considering putting the front sway-bar back in and just leaving the back out.
In the back I get much better travel, check this....

Super flex.
I've had both sways out for a while, recently rebushed the front and put it back in just for fun, only a 5 min job.
In offroad use, I guess I just like the idea of the swaybar sort of tying the front together and stopping it from having a complete mind of its own..
But for the extra offroad compliance and from what you guys are saying, may pull her back out!

Yeah, sway bars help stop body roll onroad, thats their job, but as fullthrottle said, just adjust your onroad driving. You can still push it thru a corner pretty hard, just need a smooth entry and hold it 'loaded' thru corner... good fun watching peoples reaction coming the other way
Yes, removed my sway bar when ifs, still don't have one
