Depends of what you are driving. early land rovers didn't have doors and had to be ordered as an extra. I once had an early landrover tuned down for a wof because it didn't have outside door handles and no cert for the seat belt mounts which it didn't need because of its age. I took out the seat belts and removed the doors and got my wof.

This is why i sigh at certain laws in nz....
so at least if your driving and the seatbelt comes undone you wouldnt fall out the vehicle, but then they fail it, to pass something that if you went around a corner too fast you surely will fall out of the 4x4 and get hurt?
damm new zealand, damm....

I don't know the ruling on it.
But with my old JK I had no problems passing the 5o as I just installed an elastic rope with a dog clip, so technically I had doors, I think they can get you on not having mirrors as they come off with the doors.
Anyway worth the risk.

Often drive my TJ with the doors off. Haven't been pulled over yet. Still have the interior mirror with the doors off so shouldn't be an issue? I have canvas half doors for summer cruising, still no side mirrors though. Bit hard backing without the door mirrors. Getting too old to turn my head around enough! Damn getting old, better than the alternative though!

Back when i had my terrano, i failed a warrant as one of my side mirrors was broken. The guy said taken em both off, and you will pass. he said they arnt required, but if in place, they must work... just like spotiess...
(Alto i didn't test it further than that, i replace the mirror)

Ive been wondering the same thing. Was gonna take them off and throw some pegs in the doors for a Muriwai trip one weekend. Im thinkin its a case of if you're on Long bay doin heli's they ping you for it but if your just cruizin it should be fine.. we should get three of them (third wheel ) together and do a mini mish with doors off.

heli's are when you do donuts in 4wd and the center of the car stays in the same spot, but turning around....
