What is the point in the different size of the radiator in between the two door and 4 door? Same engine, and body looks the same at the front so why a different radiator?

As you can probably tell im having a rant because the wreckers told me it would be the same and I wasted my money and time trying it :(

On the hunt for a 4 door radiator (post is in the for sale section) if anyone can help??!

Maybe different between the I4 and V6 ? Also probably different between standard and wide-body models ? STRX7 'That guy' may be able to give a bit more information.

The donar car was a G16 as well so same engine, Just frustrated. Could probably magic it up to work but I would rather do it properly.

It is unlikely that the difference between the two radiators is caused by two extra doors and a longer chassis. Given that the bumpers, lights, grille, guards, bonnets, diffs, suspension arms and stuff are interchangeable (V6 models excluded), it is doubtful that it's the issue. It is more likely that the radiator design changed at a certain point in the production run.

Fyi, the auto radiator fits a manual vehicle, it just has connections in the bottom tank for transmission fluid cooling.

Your probably right there, My truck is actually a 91 (thought it was a 94) and im not sure what year the wreck was.

If I have to magic something up to make it fit is it going to be ok running on a slightly smaller radiator? Guess I just have to make sure the top of the radiator is still in the same place to avoid air locks right?

1600 3dr and 5dr have different rads, 5dr is bigger rad (taller and wider), maybe they thought being a bigger body, it could fit more in and therefore potentially needed more cooling

H20A and J20A powered vehicles have the same radiator between 3 and 5 door

Ok thanks for that, Am I going to be ok running the smaller 3 door radiator in the 5 door truck? Its the same engine so im guessing its ok?

if its just used for normal driving and not towing, or being loaded up and slugged out up hills I cant see it being an issue.

The 8 valve engine has the smaller radiator, the 16 valve has the bigger radiator

Both were definitely 16v but I didn't look at the vin of the wreck, maybe it had an engine transplant at some stage. Got the smaller one in last night with a bit of magicand it seems to be cooling just as well as the other radiator so far, but if anyone knows of a larger one out there for sale please let me know.

err wrong.

next contestant please

having seen over 200 TA01's in the past 12 years i can assure you all TA01's use the same size radiator regardless of 8 or 16 valve engine.
