Finally got round to mounting my twin electric fans after 6mnths of them kicking round in the workshop, poped the dents out of my front gards, checked the seals on my snorkel, and went out to Dwaynes place and got a scheme going for new bullbars and side bars and planned out the itinerary for our two week Sth Island trip for early next year 8) 8) 8) 8)

Oh, and while i was poking around underneath fitting the fans, i noticed my front crank seal is weeping badly

The broken Headlight and bent number plate on the Disco is what happens when a 18mt snatch strap breaks in half. :(

Spent Saturday and Sunday building a chicken coop :? :( while some of the Manukau boys were away doing the Waitawheta - early reports were that the first vehicles completed the 20km track in just over 20 hours  one of the climbs was a one km winch at 20 to 30metre a time  pleased I didn't go - some of the guys probably took close to 30 - 35 hrs.

I assume by this you mean Tairees Track? If so it sure ain't 20km more like 11-13km even the missus has walked round the loop in a few hours.
Last time I was up there (a couple of years ago now) we took 8 hrs to get to the waterfall corner & back (going anticlockwise) with only a tirfor   FUN.....

You guys love punishment. Part of the tracks just one big long swamp. Used to take us two days to do the loop

That was back in the days of Landrovers and SAT's

Probably that track - they said it would have been easier in the other direction - I volunteered to go there in high summer - finding suitable trees to winch of at 2am after 16hrs of 4wding isn't my ideal Saturday night

They had a Chevie Blazer with them - is now a bit narrower  :D

Niva on tractors...

Hi all, I'm new and have a Niva.

I bought tractor tyres in the weekend - and spent Sunday dollying back my guards... oh and fixing oil leaks of course.

Only managed to test it with tractors on the back, and it semed unstopable. Mind you it's been pretty dry here lately anyway.

I'd love to know some places to practice off-road driving around Dunedin?

Cheers,

Baxter

The track's not that bad. Last time we made it round in about 10hrs in one truck with one broken axle. It does get a bit more interesting after dark though.

Not as bad as when you went around the wire's wopass. And I hear you have lockers now you should be running rings around the zuk's. It is quite simialr to that. The big hill is not that bad so long as you have more clearance than the guy before you

I'd be keen to go around agian... on bent's truck :) Last time I took mine I got the carpet wet  can't have that.

There is also a good side track I've only ever walked but that would be worth poking the nose down. How about this weekend or next ? I just have to make sure the new simex's fit  Pretty sure they'll go on the spare blue zuk in my garage  I wonder if Bent will notice?
